Origin

The idea that certain double-digit numbers carry a special vibration appears in ancient mystical traditions: the Hebrew Gematria attributed special weight to numbers like 22 (the letters of the Hebrew alphabet) and 33 (the years of Christ's life in Christian tradition), and Pythagorean lore around the master triple of the divine assigned mystical significance to numerical repetitions. The Pythagoreans, following the teaching of Pythagoras of Samos around 570 BCE, recognised the "tetractys" as the supreme figure and accorded special meaning to numbers that resisted simple reduction.

The modern doctrine of the Master Numbers as 11, 22, and 33 was formalised by the American school of numerology in the early twentieth century. L. Dow Balliett (writing 1900-1929) recognised the double-digit vibration; Juno Jordan (from 1925) codified 11 and 22 as the principal Master Numbers; Florence Campbell's Your Days Are Numbered (1931) made the doctrine popular. Meaning and calculation

A Master Number appears when, during the reduction of your Life Path Number, Expression Number, Heart Number, or Personality Number, the final sum produces 11, 22, or 33 before reaching a single digit. By convention you do not reduce further: the master vibration is retained. For example, if your Life Path calculation arrives at 29, then 2+9=11, you stop at 11 rather than continuing to 2.
